emotion, expressed with a combination of calligraphic and
more wildly gestural shapes and drips, of intense primary
colors that have both Chinese and western meaning.

Tiananmen Series 1989
In June of 1989 Chinese students in the
People's Republic of China demanded democracy under the regime
of Deng Xioaping. I painted seven abstract paintings as my
response to the violence that erupted during the Tiananmen
protest.
